Chef Miranda Rosenfelt Wins DC Central Kitchen’s 14th Annual Capital Food Fight

Four local chefs duked it out head to head in a live culinary competition in the Atrium on November 16th at DC Central Kitchen’s signature fundraiser here at the Reagan Building. One of the most highly anticipated DC culinary events of the year, the 14th annual Capital Food Fight convened over 80 of the area’s best restaurants and more than 1,200 guests. Standout bites included Tortellini in Brodo from Osteria Morini, Turducken Meatballs from The Bird, and a spectacular Speculoos display featuring a chocolate fountain and multiple Speculoos-themed desserts from our very own culinary team.

The culinary showdown featured chefs Douglas Alexander from Art and Soul, Hamilton Johnson from Honeysuckle, Bobby Pradachith from Thip Khao, and Miranda Rosenfelt from Sally’s Middle Name. Using secret ingredients such as pork loin, broccolini and oysters, the chefs prepared dishes Iron Chef-style and were later judged by a panel comprising Chef Joseph “JJ” Johnson, CNN’s Anna Navarro, Washington Nationals’ first basemen Ryan Zimmerman, and television personality Adam Richman. The lively cooking battle was hosted by celebrity chef and restauranteur, Jose Andres, along with chef Spike Mendersohn, Tragaye Fraser, and Fanner Slater of Food Network’s “Kitchen Sink”. At the end of the night, Chef Miranda Rosenfelt of Sally’s Middle Name was left standing as the winning chef.

The event was founded and chaired by Jose Andres, with this year’s Capital Food Fight raising over $638,000 – all of it benefitting DC Central Kitchen. The DC-based nonprofit organization’s programs combat food disparities and offer culinary job training to the unemployed while serving over 3 million well balanced meals to local DC schools, shelters, and fellow nonprofits each year.

This was the 12th year we’ve hosted Capital Food Fight here at the Reagan Building.
