Capital Harvest on the Plaza (CHoP)

e-i-e-i-o: Eco-Friendly-Informative-Entertaining-Interactive-Original

Capital Harvest on the Plaza (CHoP) welcomes denizens throughout the DC Metro area to its 2010 season. Not your typical farmers market, CHoP features live music, cooking demonstrations, and, of course, plenty of farm-fresh edibles and artisanal novelties. The market's uniqueness is reflected in its slogan e-i-e-i-o, which stands for eco-friendly, informative, entertaining, interactive and original.

Other market attractions include an information booth stocked with recipes as well as tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and "living green." For foodies on the go, CHoP features a stand selling fresh and healthy prepared foods.

Also returning this season is a CHoP fan favorite: live cooking demonstrations. Each week a local celebrity chef will create inspired dishes incorporating produce available at the market and, best of all, market-goers will be able to sample these creations and take home the recipes. This year's lineup includes Chef Todd Gray of Equinox Restaurant, Chef Peter Smith of PS7's and Chef Xavier Deshayes of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

CHoP is a free, public event sponsored by the U.S. General Services Administration and TCMA. It joins Live! on Woodrow Wilson Plaza in infusing Federal Triangle with unique, engaging entertainment.
